When Wipeout launched for the PS1 in 1995, the soundtrack captured what is now seen as a classic era in electronic music history - breakbeats, glitchy edges, raw synths and big names (including the Chemical Brothers and Orbital). Years before The Matrix hit the big screen, playing Wipeout through a PS1 on a glowing CRT with the techno blasting on your living room speakers felt like the future. The soundtrack for this game didn't have simplified low-resolution versions of the music either - it was the actual tracks from the artists shaping the scene. The game was a collision of youth culture, rave culture, gaming culture and technology that marked a turning point in soundtrack design.
